The Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) at KNUST has announced a swift return to its trusted blended learning model, after recent heavy rains and flooding forced a temporary shift to fully online teaching across its study centres.

Management says the quick reversal is deliberate: purely online delivery, while a necessary stop gap during the flooding, isn't ideal for every course, especially calculation-heavy programmes that depend on hands-on, face-to-face instruction for problem-solving, worked examples, and real-time clarification.



To protect the quality of learning in these programmes, IDL is moving fast to restore the dual format of interactive online sessions paired with physical classroom engagement.

Effective Block 3, running August 8th to August 23rd, 2026, all IDL facilitators and students across the various study centres are directed to resume the blended approach, strictly following the university's approved timetable.
 

The Institute says the move reflects its commitment to consistent delivery standards, in line with KNUST's mantra of pushing higher education "From Excellence to Eminence".
